The US and NATO have directed the fighting against Moscow since the beginning of the crisis, Stanislav Krapivnik has said
The Ukraine conflict has been "all about Russia" from the beginning, driven by Washington's ambition to dismantle the country as a political, economic, and military power, former US Army officer Stanislav Krapivnik has told RT.
He was commenting on an investigation by the New York Times, which claimed that the Ukraine conflict is part of a series of US-led proxy wars against Russia. According to the report published on Saturday, the administration of former US President Joe Biden developed an "extraordinary partnership of intelligence, strategy, planning and technology" with Kiev in its fight against Russia.
Speaking to RT on Sunday, Krapivnik suggested that Washington and London, as well as NATO in general, have been the ones that are "actually controlling the game."
"The British were behind the Snake Island attacks, the countless attacks that were rebuffed with major losses to the special forces in Ukraine. And the British were just sending them out and sending them out," Krapivnik said, referring to a strategic island near the Ukrainian port city of Odessa, which was heavily contested during the early months of the conflict.
He went on to claim that NATO was also behind the invasion of Russia's Kursk Region last August, when Ukrainian forces captured Sudzha and multiple villages in a matter of days.
"The Kiev invasion of southwestern Kursk looked like a typical NATO-planned mission, minus enough aviation," Krapivnik said.
With US President Donald Trump no longer seen as an ally to Kiev due to his push to swiftly end the conflict, Ukraine's Vladimir Zelensky is now "a lot more now under the French, British, the Anglo-Franco Union."
"He's now further under them because he doesn't want this war to end. It could possibly be the end of his life, and he knows it," Krapivnik believes.
Regarding Ukraine's violations of a 30-day ceasefire on energy infrastructure agreed to with the US following talks in Saudi Arabia on March 15, Krapivnik said Kiev "just breaks whatever promises it's made."
